Publication ethics and publication malpractice statement

The International Journal of Humanities, Commerce and Education is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical behavior at all stages of the publication process. Our publication ethics and malpractice policy is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for journal editors. This statement outlines the ethical standards for authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers to ensure the integrity, quality, and transparency of research. 

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting to International Journal of Humanities, Commerce and Education must adhere to the following ethical practices:

1.1 Originality and Plagiarism

  • Authors must ensure that their submissions are entirely original works.

  • Any sources or works of others must be appropriately cited or quoted.

  • Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited. Manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using plagiarism detection software.

1.2 Authorship of the Paper

  • Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.

  • All co-authors must be accurately listed, and all must have agreed to the final version of the manuscript.

  • Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

1.3 Multiple or Redundant Publication

  • Authors must not submit the same research manuscript to more than one journal concurrently.

  • Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals constitutes unethical publishing behavior.

1.4 Data Accuracy and Integrity

  • Authors are responsible for providing accurate and verifiable data.

  • Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data is unacceptable.

  • Authors should retain raw data related to their manuscript for possible review.

1.5 Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that could influence their work.

1.6 Ethical Compliance

  • Research involving humans or animals must follow internationally accepted ethical guidelines.

  • Authors must provide proof of ethical approval, where applicable.


2. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the journal’s publication process.

2.1 Fairness and Objectivity

  • Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their intellectual content, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

2.2 Confidentiality

  • Editors must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related communications.

2.3 Conflict of Interest

  • Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research purposes without the author’s explicit written consent.

2.4 Publication Decisions

  • The Editor-in-Chief has the final authority over which manuscripts are accepted for publication, based on the importance, originality, and clarity of the work and the manuscript’s relevance to the journal.


3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are essential to ensuring quality and credibility.

3.1 Confidentiality

  • Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents.

  • They should not share or discuss the content with anyone except the editorial team.

3.2 Objectivity

  • Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear arguments supporting their feedback.

3.3 Acknowledgment of Sources

  • Reviewers should identify any relevant published work not cited by the authors.

  • They should notify the editor of any suspected plagiarism or unethical practices.

3.4 Conflict of Interest

  • Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors.


4. Publisher’s Responsibilities

The publisher of International Journal of Humanities, Commerce and Education is committed to ensuring the independence and ethical behavior of the editorial team and maintaining the integrity of the publication process.

  • The publisher will work closely with editors to investigate any allegations of misconduct.

  • In cases of proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher will retract or correct the article as required.


5. Handling of Unethical Behavior

  • Allegations of unethical behavior will be investigated thoroughly.

  • If unethical behavior is confirmed, appropriate actions will be taken, which may include:

    • Retraction of the article

    • Notification to relevant institutions

    • Banning the author(s) from future submissions


6. Retraction Policy

An article may be retracted if:

  • It contains clear evidence of plagiarism or data fabrication.

  • It violates ethical research standards.

  • It has been published elsewhere without proper acknowledgment.

Retractions will be clearly identified and accessible to readers.


7. Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to International Journal of Humanities, Commerce and Education are checked for plagiarism using advanced plagiarism detection software before being sent for peer review. Any manuscript found to have excessive similarity with published work will be rejected.


8. Open Access Policy

International Journal of Humanities, Commerce and Education follows an open-access policy to make research freely available to the public, ensuring global knowledge sharing and accessibility without financial or legal barriers.
